Who we are
The Energy Innovation Center (EIZ) at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg brings together over 80 scientists from 15 departments with more than 40 partners from industry and research. The network includes, among others, 50Hertz, LEAG, Siemens Energy, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Fraunhofer IEG, as well as regional universities and SMEs. Together, we develop technologies and business models for a climate-neutral energy supply in Lusatia and beyond.
In six labs, we combine expertise in energy economics, control and cybersecurity, grid and high-voltage technology, hydrogen and storage processes, power electronics, and scientific computing. Equipment such as grid and hardware-in-the-loop simulators, smart grid and power-to-X real-world labs, and a high-voltage laboratory enable us to develop concepts from model to prototype and quickly transfer them into practice. Thus, the EIZ combines excellent research with industry-oriented development and qualified knowledge transfer.
