Under the motto “Regional focus, global impact: Innovative solutions for the energy transition” Over the past three and a half years, the Energy Innovation Center (EIZ) has established itself as a successful research and innovation center. At the 2026 annual conference, a review of progress will be presented and celebrated, highlighting advancements in research, science, and industry.
On June 2, 2026, this annual conference promises to become a hub for academic exchange and collaborative research. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a range of scientific sessions, Poster presentations and Lectures from science and industry to participate. The program of the EIZ annual conference covers all areas of energy technology and energy economics with applications in science and technology.
Our third Annual Meeting this year is particularly special, as it represents the final overall project meeting of the EIZ within the first funding phase. Following a positive evaluation of the activities carried out and planned, the application for funding phase 2 is currently under review by the Jülich Project Management Agency and the relevant ministries. We are confident that the EIZ will be able to resume its work on October 1, 2026.
Technical presentations, scientific sessions, poster presentations
The agenda for the 3rd Annual Meeting is packed. Following the welcoming remarks from BTU President Prof. Gesine Grande, Lab Director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mario Schenk (EPS Lab), and Stefan Müller from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, participants can expect a diverse program. This includes technical presentations from academia and industry, scientific sessions, and a poster presentation.
Finally, the EIZ leads a tour through five of its six laboratories.
The program concludes at 18:00 PM with a one-hour lab tour. The EIZ will showcase a selection of exciting demonstrators and its modern research infrastructure in the Energy Economics Lab (EECON Lab), Electric-Power-Systems Lab (EPS Lab), Energy Storage and Conversion Lab (ESC Lab), High Power Grid Converter Lab (HPGC Lab), and Control Systems and Cyber Security Lab (COSYS Lab).
