"Utilizing flexibility for the planning and operation of power supply systems"
The stable operation of modern power supply systems requires greater flexibility from connected units such as generation, storage, and consumption than in the past. However, providing this flexibility necessitates appropriate modeling and coordination of available flexibility from various resources. This presentation will address general research questions surrounding the flexibility of power supply systems and present current contributions to this field.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Ulbig, a Swiss-German energy systems engineer, holds the chair for Active energy distribution networks at the Institute for High Voltage Technology and Networks, Digitalization and Energy Economics (IAEW) of RWTH Aachen University.
He also heads the Electrical Energy Systems group at the Fraunhofer Center for Digital Energy, which combines the expertise of Fraunhofer FIT and RWTH Aachen University at the interface between IT and energy technology. He is Vice President of the Swiss Energy Foundation (SES) and a member of the board of the VDE Energy Technology Division (ETG) as well as the scientific advisory board of the FGH. He is an active member of IEEE (PES, CSS), CIGRE, and VDE (ETG, FNN).
